FAMILYCARE PROGRAM FAQs

Your Personal Family Lawyer for Life

Welcome to the Hsiao Law FamilyCare Program (“FCP”)!

Welcome to our Hsiao Law FamilyCare Program (“FCP”)! We are excited to serve you in this program we created just for you and your family.

Previously known as the VIP Membership Program, the FamilyCare Program is our exclusive maintenance program for clients who have completed their estate planning with us. It is designed to provide ongoing support and ensure your plan remains secure, accessible, and aligned with your family’s needs over time.

With the FamilyCare Program, you’ll enjoy secure virtual access to all of your estate planning documents, ensuring that nothing is ever lost or misplaced. This access gives you and your loved ones peace of mind, knowing your important documents are always organized and readily available.

In addition, the FCP provides continued access to our team for any questions or updates related to your estate plan. Whether you need to make adjustments, clarify provisions, or ensure that everything remains up to date, we are here to guide and support you.

This program is our way of helping you avoid unnecessary complications or delays in court while keeping your estate plan in excellent shape. By enrolling, you can rest assured that your plan will continue to protect your family and legacy for years to come.

We’ve included a FAQ document to address common questions about the FamilyCare Program. If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to our office. We look forward to continuing to support you and your family!

We’re sure you have a number of questions about our FCP so we’ve created this FAQ document. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for here, feel free to contact our office.

As part of your membership, you can call us with any legal questions you have.  When you call, you will talk with our Administrative Assistant, who acts as our triage person, like in a hospital. If your call is about something our Firm can immediately help you with our Administrative Assistant will then pass this along to our Client Services Director. In the event additional legal work cannot be handled by our firm, we do our best to determine the right lawyer for your matter.

If your call requires legal analysis or consultation within our area of expertise, our Administrative Assistant will get a complete description of your concern and schedule time for you to talk by phone with Amy Hsiao, Esq. We schedule meetings ahead of time so we’re both prepared for the meeting, and we don’t play phone tag, which is just a waste of your time and frustrating for everyone. Quite often, this consultation can put your mind at ease. There will be a minimal charge for any of this consultation or advice.

In the event the legal work can be handled by our firm that is outside the scope of our FCP Engagement Agreement we will quote you a fee (if applicable) to handle the additional work before beginning any such work.

Besides the annual review of your legal documents and the routine updates that we will make for free or at a members-only discount depending on the extent of the change, you will receive ongoing access to your documents through our secure client portal and access to Legacy Interview to capture the legacy of your family.

For an additional explanation of benefits, please see the FCP features list.

The FCP includes a quarterly check-in and a yearly review of your planning documents and special members-only pricing for routine updates to your plan. In the event that you want to change the structure of your plan, or require other significant updates, we would quote a fee before doing any work.

Simple updates, such as adding a child or switching out one agent for another are at 15% off of the regular rate.

You may cancel your membership at any time. However, if we have done discounted or free work on your behalf under the membership agreement and the total value of that work exceeds the membership fees you have paid, we will require payment of the difference in price. If you want to join the FamilyCare Program again at a later time, you will pay a $500 enrollment fee and join at the then-current rate. You may also be required to pay an additional fee in amount equal to the applicable monthly membership fee times the number of months since the date of your Signing Meeting (“Enrollment and Updating Fee”). If that’s the case, we will discuss that with you before re-enrollment.

You can join the FCP at any time. However, if you want to enroll after your Signing Meeting, there is an enrollment fee of $500.  If you join at or before your Signing Meetiannualng, we will waive the enrollment fee.

Your membership in our FCP covers planning for your immediate family, including spouse, children, parents, and siblings. If they want to discuss their own planning, we would be honored to handle that and will offer them a Family Wealth Planning Session at our member rate. They will also receive a 10% discount for any legal planning they choose

Limitations apply. Your family members must complete their homework and get it back to us within 3 days of their Family Wealth Planning Session, they must reserve their session with a credit card number, attend the session, and both partners must be present if they are planning together. Normally, our Family Wealth Planning Session is $750 for a 2-hour meeting with our firm, but if you are a family member of an existing Family Care Program client, you get $250 off for this initial Family Wealth Planning Session.
